PERSPECTIVE VARIETY OF PEA “YUBILYAR”

Summary. The breeding work for the new variety of pea “Yubilyar” was started in 1998. In 2012-2014 on the base of the experimental field of FGBNU “Ulyanovsk Agricultural Research Institute” its competitive variety test was carried out. The soil of the experimental plot is leached chernozem middle-humic middle-thick, heavy loamy; the thickness of the humus horizon is 0.79 m, the humus content is 5.2%. Weather conditions during the variety testing were different. As a whole the most favorable year for productivity formation was 2012. The index of conditions (Ij) in this year was +0.49, while in 2013 and 2014 it was +0.29 and -0.77, correspondingly. The evaluation of the samples, calculations and observations were conducted according to the “Methodology of State Variety Test Commission of Agricultural Crops”. The protein content was determined by the Kyedal’s method, cooking properties–by the method of A.V. Sosnin. For processing of the test results we used the computer program "AGROS". The new pea variety “Yubilyar” of the tendril morphotype is characterized by middle ripeness (the duration of vegetation period is 68-71 days), resistance to shedding and lodging. The length of stem is 55-65 cm, the number of internodes is 14-16 pcs. Yubiljar exceeds the standard variety Talovets 70 by 0.14 t/ha in the productivity. The new variety has lesser thousand seed weight (177g vs. 202 g), in comparison with the standard. Because of this the weight of seeding material decreased to 242 kg/ha with the seeding rate of 1.3 m seeds per a hectare. For Talovets variety this indicator is equal to 276 kg/ha. The cooking and taste qualities are good. The injury by the main pests (seedworm and pea weevil) is on the level of the standard variety. In 2014 the new variety of pea “Yubilyar” was passed for the State Trials.
