Summary. Up to 20% growth of gross output of agriculture of the Stavropol territory in the 70-80-years was ensured through rational allocation and specialization of production. Currently, however, they do not answer the specifics essentially changed natural and economic conditions, which is characterized by stable growth of average annual temperatures (from-0.4 to 1.1 with 1981 to 2010 years), growth rates of heat supply, the formation of a mixed economy, orientation to the market conditions. So, if on such crops as winter wheat, winter and spring barley, oats formed steady areas most appropriate placement of these crops, rye, corn, buckwheat, millet needed clarification. Economic assessment of production of various kinds of grain crops on the basis of the «total points efficiency» (C) made it possible to dis-tinguish four groups of regions as to its suitability and effectiveness of cultivation of each crop yields, production costs, cost recovery): I group with poor settings (With whom 49); II - satisfactory (=50-99); III-good (=100-149); IV - very good (With whom 150). Use of these areas, in the framework of the allocated band, in conjunction with the assessment of their natural resources, allowed to give recommendations for optimizing the allocation of major crops cultivated in the region. Implementation of these recommendations, in combination with other elements of the farming system of the new generation, developed by scientists of Stavropol research Institute of agriculture in 2012, will ensure better use of natural and economic characteristics of the zone and increase on this basis the effectiveness of the agrarian sector of the region. So, according to calculations, the volume of gross output agriculture in the region seafront by the year 2020 can increase in all categories of farms in comparison with 2010 by 32%, and the sustainability of its production - from 88.6% in average for 2006-2010 to 98.7% in 2016-2020.
