Summary. The project was developed to optimize the regulatory indicators of commercial quality of seed potato, sold on the market, and minimize risks of technical barriers to the realization of export-import supplies of certified seed within the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). Differentiated norms the commercial quality were set for three categories of seed potato: original seeds (OS), elite seeds (ES) and reproductive seeds (RS), which take into account the possible reduction of quality levels for individual indicators, with the increasing number of field generations in the process of production of seed potatoes. Limit tolerances for severe forms of viral diseases, which are revealed on the base of inspection of plants, restricted for the category of the original seeds to 0.4%, elite seeds – 1% and reproductive seeds – 2%. As for bacterial diseases (damping-off) for the categories of original and elite seeds the tolerance is zero. In the category of reproductive seed, it is no more than 1%. In addition to the approbatory inspection of plants in the category of original seeds the presence of plants and tubers, infected by viruses causing a severe mosaic (PVY), potato leaf roll virus (PLRV) and potato spindle tuber viroid (PSTV), is controlled by PCR, ELISA and LFIA. The presence of the PVY and PLRV in the initial in vitro material and minitubers is not allowed. In the first field generation from minitubers, the maximum allowable rate should not exceed 0.5%, in the super-super-elite – 1%. In respect of PSTV for all generation categories of original seed, there is zero tolerance. Tolerances for tuber diseases for lots of OS and ES are close to the level of the normative requirements of the UNECE international standard. For parties of RS, the maximum allowable level of infestation of tubers by dry and wet rot should not exceed 1%, scab – 5%, Rhizoctonia – 5%, rust spot – 5%. The fraction of tubers damaged by pests (wireworms, chafer, scoops) should not exceed 2%.
