Abstract. It is presented the data of agrochemical and ecological condition of agricultural lands in Arkhangelsk region according to the materials of the system agricultural surveys, conducted by FGBU SAS “Arkhangelskaya” since the seventies of the last century. It was revealed the tendencies of degradation of agricultural soils on the main indicators. There is an increase in the fraction of arable lands with acid soil reaction. Despite the rather high concentration of mobile phosphorus and potassium in soils of the region, there is a trend of a decrease in their content. At the same time rather high for the region content of organic matter (2.7-2.8 %) maintains. As for 2016, the soil fertility of the arable soils of Arkhangelsk region is assessed as good, however, it differs significantly among four agricultural areas separated in the region. The best quality soils are in the southern districts of the region. Arable lands of the northernmost district are characterized by high acidity and they are eliminated from the survey due to they are not used. The decrease in the content of nutrition elements in arable lands is observed since the 1990s; and since 2000 it was established a negative balance for phosphorus and potassium. The processes, occurring in the soils of the region, are connected with a high proportion of unused lands, where the measures for the maintenance of soil fertility have not already been carried out for two decades. The developed system for an increase in soil fertility in crop production is kept and maintained, first of all, in the southern regions with a higher proportion of used lands, for example, in Velsk district. The emerging in recent years social and economic trends make it possible to hope for the relevance of traditional and modern technologies for the increase in soil fertility on the basis of the positive experience of some farms.

Keywords: soil, agrochemical survey, dynamics of fertility.
