EFFICIENT PROTECTION OF POTATO FROM DISEASES OF VARIOUS ETIOLOGY UNDER CONDITIONS OF BRYANSK REGION

Abstract. Soil pathogens Rhizoctonia solani, Colletotrichum coccodes, and Helminthosporium solani cause significant potato losses and are hardly controlled by standard chemical treatments. The efficiency of two combined protecting schemes was evaluated and compared under conditions of Bryansk region. The first scheme included a routine scheme of plant treatment with fungicides (2x Infinito (a.s. fluopicolide and propamocarb hydrochloride, 1.6 L/ha), 2x Consento (a.s. fenamidone + propamocarb hydrochloride, 2 kg/ha), and 1x Penncozeb (a.s. mancozeb, 1.6 kg/ha)) combined with a pre-planting treatment of seed tubers with Emesto Quantum fungicide (a.s. penflufen + clothianidin, 0.35 L/t). The second scheme included another routine treatment of potato plants with fungicides (2x Ridomil Gold SL (a.s. mancozeb + mephenoxam, 2.5 kg/ha); 2x Revus Top (a.s. mandipropamid + difenoconazole, 0.6 L/ha); 1x Shirlan (a.s. fluazinam, 0.4 L/ha)) combined with the starter application of Uniform fungicide (a.s. azoxystrobin + chlorantraniliprole, 0.8 L/ha). The tuber treatment with Emesto Quantum inhibited the development of Rhizoctonia-caused diseases and improved tuber germination. Several days prior the harvesting, deep cankers caused by R. solani were observed on the stems and stolons of control plants, while only single disease manifestations were observed in the variants treated by Emesto Quantum. In the case of the Uniform application, no stem canker was observed until the harvesting; this fungicide was also the only one, which reduced a harmfulness of the black dot caused by Colletotrichum coccodes (3–4 times compared to other experimental variants). A delay in the silver scurf development on daughter tubers was observed in both variants (Emesto Quantum or Uniform); the maximal protective effect was observed for the scheme included Uniform fungicide. The use of Ridomil Gold SL, Revus Top, and Shirlan fungicides (the second scheme) provided the best protection of potato fields from the late and early blights.
