Abstract. The determination of the correlation between haematological parameters of the stud bulls’ organisms and their age can contribute to the study of reference values of clinical indicators characterizing the normal course of metabolic processes. We analyzed the samples of whole blood of the stud bulls of the Holstein breed (n = 79) for the content of leukocytes, erythrocytes, haemoglobin, as well as the hematocrit value. The bulls were divided by age into 4 groups: up to 2 years (control), 2–4 years, 4–6 years, older than 6 years. They were kept in one breeding farm. The number of leukocytes decreased with the age of the stud bulls. At 2–4 years, the value of this index decreased by 2.21 x 10E9/L (22.5%); at 4–6 years it decreased by 2.77 x 10E9/L (28.3%); at the age over 6 years it decreased by 3.03 x 10E9/L (30.9%), compared to the bulls under the age of 2 years. Increase in the number of red blood cells was observed until the age of 4–6 years. In the age group of 2–4 years, the value of this indicator was 8.47 x 10E12/L, which was 14.9% more than for the bulls aged up to 2 years. In the bulls at the age of 4–6 years, it was observed significant differences in the value of this indicator – it increased compared with the control (by 1.12 x 10E12/L, or 15.2%). The change in haemoglobin content with age was subject to the following pattern: it increased at the age from 2 to 4–6 years, and then slightly decreased. At the age of 2–4 years hematocrit value amounted to 39.01% that was higher than for younger bulls by 4.02%. When the bulls reached the age of 4–6 years it increased to a maximum level in our research of 40.88%, which is 5.89% more than in the control.
