Abstract. The work was carried out at the catchment areas of the test on contour-reclamation farming under the conditions of the Kursk region. The purpose of the research was to assess the decrease in soil erosion when using the improved methodology for the anti-erosion organization of the territory with three options (extensive, economically feasible, and forest reclamation) on the arable slopes typical for the Central Chernozem Region. The soils were leached and typical chernozems of varying erosion degrees. In the medium of the geographic information system, on the territory of the experimental catchments, it was created rasters with spatial information about the relief’s characteristics and the effect of the type and subtype of soils, elements of the anti-erosion organization of the territory and crops on the erosion processes. The total mean annual soil erosion degree (during snowmelt and storm erosion) was calculated under the existing agricultural production conditions using mathematical operations with a series of rasters. The average weighted soil erosion at the control catchment was 2.4 t/ha; at the catchment with 2-row forest belts in combination with terraced ridges, it was 0.2 t/ha; at the catchment with 2-row forest belts, it was 0.7 t/ha. Due to the fact that the soil erosion acceptable for the experiment (2.0 t/ha) was exceeded at the control catchment, three previously listed options for the anti-erosion organization of the territory were developed for it. According to the results of the forecast calculation, the average weighted soil erosion reduced to 1.0 t/ha in the extensive variant; in the economically feasible variant it reduced to 0.8 t/ha; in the forest reclamation variant it reduced to 0.3 t/ha. The proposed methodology allowed developing projects for the anti-erosion organization of the territory with the predicted soil erosion under the current conditions of agricultural production in a short time and without labour-intensive operations.
