Abstract. The study aimed to determine the relationship of serum biochemical parameters with the productivity direction and age of sheep. The studies were conducted in the Moscow region in 2019–2020. We studied biochemical parameters of blood serum of Romanov (n = 18) and Katahdin (n = 40) sheep at the age of 3, 6, and 9 months. We determined the contents of albumin, glucose, urea, creatinine, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase, cholesterol, total protein, phospholipids, and triglycerides. Statistical analysis of the data was performed using SPSS v.23 program. The comparison of the animals in terms of breed did not reveal any statistically significant difference between the values of the studied parameters of blood serum. On average, the studied breeds showed an increase in the content of total protein and albumin in blood serum by the age of 9 months (p was less than 0.05), compared with the age of 3 months, by 29.4% and 49.5%, respectively (up to 62.71 g/L and 46.76 g/L) and a decrease in the glucose content (p was less than 0.05) by 19.1% (to 2.29 mmol/L). The minimum serum triglyceride concentration in the experiment was established at the age of 3 months. It was 0.10 mmol/L, which was 0.08 mmol/L less than at 6 months and 0.10 mmol/L less than at 9 months. The differences in both cases were significant. The revealed statistically significant relationship of the biochemical parameters of sheep serum with their age can be used to characterize the health of animals.
