Abstract. The purpose of the research was to study the effectiveness of insecticides against the main pea pests in the forest-steppe of the Altai Territory. The work was performed in 2013–2014. The seeds were treated against Sitona before sowing with Imidalit insecticide in the form of runny paste at a rate of 8 g/t with sowing them against backgrounds without fertilizers and with the application of mineral nitrogen. The plants were treated with insecticides against aphids and pea weevils during the growing season in the budding and flowering phases of pea separately and in both phases (twice). We used three classes of insecticides – neonicotinoids (Biskaya, OD, 0.2 kg/ha), synthetic pyrethroids (Decis Expert, EC, 0.125 L/ha), and organophosphorus compounds (Bi-58 Novyy, EC, 0.8 L/ha). Seed dressing provided a long-term protective effect against weevils for both plants and nodules, resulting in an increase in the yield, relative to the option without it – from 0.22 t/ha to 0.49 t/ha. All three insecticides reduced aphids population by more than 70%. The maximum efficiency in the experiment was noted in the case when preparations were used twice. Systemic insecticides (Bi-58 Novyy, EC, Biskaya, OD) were more effective against pea weevil. A single use of them in the flowering phase was sufficient to reduce the seed infestation by the pest (weevil imago) to a level that meets the GOST requirements. The use of systemic preparations provided an increase in pea productivity, in comparison with the untreated control, by 0.56–0.63 t/ha.
Keywords: pea (Pisum sativum L.); pea weevil (Bruchus pisorum L.); pea aphid (Acyrthosiphon pisum); nodule weevil (genus Sitona); biological effectiveness of preparations.
