Abstract. The purpose of the research was to study the yield, duration of vegetation, protein and gluten content, vitreousness, and GDM of spring durum wheat varieties entered in the State Register to identify the most adapted to the conditions of the south of Western Siberia. The work was performed in 2001–2019. The research material was the varieties approved for use in the Russian Federation in 2019. The tests were conducted during 3–10 years. The varieties were compared with Kharkovskaya 46 standard. The seeds were sown in the first ten days of May after bare fallow at a sowing rate of 5 million pcs/ha; the plot area was 10 m2. Under Altai conditions, the duration of the growing season varied significantly by year and genotype and differed from that indicated in the State Register. Deviations in the yield of the varieties from Kharkovskaya 46 ranged from -39% to +38%. The largest increases to the standard (38.0–24.4%) were provided by varieties Omsky Izumrud (1.13 t/ha), Bezenchukskaya 210 (1.00 t/ha), Bashkirskaya 27 (0.91 t/ha), Bezenchukskaya Niva (0.88 t/ha), Bezenchukskaya Stepnaya (0.95 t/ha), Marina (0.90 t/ha), Oazis (0.87 t/ha), and Zhemchuzhina Sibiri (0.74 t/ha). The varieties included in the State Register at the end of the 20th century exceeded Kharkovskaya 46 by 3.8%; in 2001–2010 – by 13.7%; in 2011–2019 – by 17.9%. In corresponding periods, the protein content in grain, on average, was below the standard by 6.8%, 6.2%, and 3.7%; the gluten content was below the standard by 6.9%, 7.3%, and 7.6%. The cluster groups of varieties were mainly formed by genotypic features; the effect of the origin and admittance region was weak. Varieties Bashkirskaya 27, Bezenchukskaya 200, Bezenchukskaya Krepost’, Zhemchuzhina Sibiri, Omskaya Stepnaya, Omskaya Yantarnaya, Pamyati Yanchenko, Solnechnaya 573, and Yasenka combined high productivity and quality indicators.
