Abstract. The purpose of the research was to study the features of pregastric digestion, the digestibility of nutrients and metabolic processes in ruminant organisms, with a partial replacement of grain concentrates with artificially dried feed in the form of granules from the green mass of Galega orientalis. The work was performed on young ewes in a vivarium in the Moscow region in 2019. At the age of 16–18 months, their live weight was 40–45 kg. They had chronic scar fistulas, established according to Basov. The animals were selected by the pair-analogue method taking into account their live weight and origin (n = 6). A diet of the control group consisted of cereal-forb hay (1.5 kg) and mixed fodder (0.4 kg). In the test group, a part of the concentrated cereal fodder (50%) was replaced with granules from the green mass of Galega orientalis (0.3 kg). The test sheep increase the consumption of dry matter by 7.5%, organic matter – by 7.7%, crude protein – by 13.6%, crude fat – by 32.7%, raw cellulose – by 20.4%. Dry matter digestibility coefficient increased by 3.0%; the coefficient for organic matter increased by 0.7%; for protein – by 3.5%; for fat – by 0.9%; for fibre – by 4.1%; for nitrogen-free extractive substances – by 1.3% with an increase in the amount of digested nutrients. Partial replacement of the grain part of the diet with granules from Galega orientalis had a positive effect on metabolic processes in the body. Total protein in the blood serum of animals from the experimental group, relative to the control group, tended to increase by 5.2%; the concentration of albumins – by 7.3%; the concentration of globulins – by 2.6%; glucose content – by 59.9%; urea level – by 18.2%.
