Abstract. The purpose of the study was to develop a technology for designing anti-erosion complexes in agricultural landscapes of the Central Chernozem region based on modelling erosion processes and calculating the effectiveness of anti-erosion measures at the design stage in the environment of geographic information systems. The results were obtained as a result of an experiment in contour and reclamation agriculture conducted in agricultural lands of a model catchment area in the Kursk region. The predicted average long-term soil washout on arable lands with grain-row crop rotation without anti-erosion measures turned out to be higher than the maximum permissible standard. The proposed algorithm for making decisions on the use of certain types of anti-erosion measures was aimed at reducing soil erosion in accordance with the standards of permissible washout, which for eroded soils of the model catchment area is taken equal to 0.5 t/ha. The transformation of land with 20% tinning of the most eroded soils in the catchment area allowed reducing washout by 21% and by 33% when cultivating crops using anti-erosion agricultural methods. However, the standard of permissible soil washout was not achieved in this case. Soil-protective crop rotation with the transformation of the territory and the use of agricultural practices reduced soil washout by 66% and allowed achieving standard indicators. The most effective were forest reclamation measures. They made it possible to reduce soil washout by 86% without a soil-protective crop rotation with a change in farming specialization and the maintenance of an established grain-row crop rotation with crops in demand in the market. The use of geographic information systems when calculating soil washout with the subsequent anti-erosion organization of the territory allows implementing various options for solving the problem simultaneously from the standpoint of the soil-protecting role and economic benefits for the land user.
