Abstract. The research aimed to study the effectiveness of biological control techniques against the invasive species of the green vegetable bug Nezara viridula (L., 1758). We analyzed 102 scientific sources containing information about the biology of the bug and examples of the successful use of biosecurity against it in the period from 2003 to 2021. These were mostly articles in leading Russian and international journals included in the databases Scopus, Russian Science Citation Index, Web of Science, RSCI, and others. N. viridula is one of the economically dangerous polyphagous pests of various crops (cereals, row crops, industrial crops, vegetables, etc.) in the world. In the Russian Federation, the pest was registered for the first time in 2006. One of the most successful methods for limiting the abundance of this bug is a classical biological method. It involves creating conditions for maintaining the abundance and natural reproduction of indigenous entomophages of the bug, primarily Trissolcus egg-eaters, by post-sowing of various nectar plants and entomophilous crops, which provide feeding for representatives of the Scelionidae family, and releasing additional entomophages bred in biological laboratories into agrocenoses. In addition to useful insect species, in recent years, the abundance of stinkbugs has been limited by biological products based on entomopathogenic fungi, actinomycetes, and nematodes. These pathogens can restrain the development of the pest at an economically imperceptible level, reducing its abundance on average by 80.0–85.5%. The available data made it possible to conclude that the biological method turned to be successful because it allowed controlling the spread of N. viridula without using chemical insecticides. This is important for the development of a strategy that will help to further limit the abundance of bugs in the Russian Federation.
