Summary. Barley among all the cereals follows after wheat, rye and corn. It is cultivated in all grain producing regions. In Russia 80% of beer is obtained from the barley cultivated in the Central Black Soil region. Production and beer consumption annually increases on 15…25 % and causes the demands to its quality. Growth of volumes of brewing is stimulated and makes profitable barley cultivation for grain production although its technological conditions are not always appropriate. The purpose of researches is to work out new and improve existing methods of pre sowing seed treatment and spraying of brewing barley to increase of its seeds qualities and productivity in the conditions of the Central region of Russia. Researches were conducted in field and laboratory conditions at All-Russia Research Institute of Legumes and Groat Crops in 2000…2012. For treatment of seeds and crops of barley of variety of Scarlet used complex organic-mineral substance – potassium humate peat in liquid form which application in the Central Russia was not researched. Its main substance – physiologically active forms of potassium salts of humate acids. In laboratory the treatment of seeds by this fertilizer was effected in doze of 200 g (8 % of concentration) per 1 t in 10 days before sowing. Field experiments are put on plots with the area of 10 sq. м in 6 replications in accordance with the scheme: without treatment of seeds (control); the first spraying in dose of 400 ml for 200 l of water (per 1 ha) in tillering phase; the secondary spraying – in phase of flag leaf – heading beginnings. Potassium humate peat in liquid form was applied while pre sowing seeds treatment (200 g-t) with addition of cover-former Epok (100 g-t) and seed cleaner TMTD (4 kg-t). It is established that presowing seeds treatment stimulates seeds germination and increases length of linear sprouts on 16,7%, field germination rate – on 9%, height of plants – on 17,3%, reduces infestation with root rots – on 14,9%, increases productivity raises – on 0,64 t-ha (14,8%) in comparison with control. Carrying out the second spraying due to insignificant increase of the content of protein in grain (on 0,97% to control) is not efficient.
