Summary. The paper reveals tendencies in meat industry development for last decade. Thus, meat production on a carcass weight basis decreased on 22.9% in all the enterprises; it decreased on 49.4% in agricultural enterprises and increased on 27.5% in households (farms. But meat production growth in households hasn’t contributed to its decreasing in agricultural enterprises. Beef production strongly decreased on 59.9% and mutton production on 70.1% as well. There is a good dynamics in pork production which achieved level of 1990 in 2012; poultry production surpassed production in 1990 on 44%. These tendencies have made changes in meat production. Beef specific weight decreased from 48.7% in 1990 to 27.4% in 2012 in total meat production whereas pork production and poultry production increased on 9 and 14.9 points correspondingly. Growth of meat demand can be provided by means of complex measures and development of cattle breeding, pig breeding, poultry breeding, sheep raising and in some regions horse breeding and deer breeding. Promising development of livestock farming industries should be conformed and evaluated from the point of view of regional labor differentiation, ultimate level of needs satisfaction in foodstuff by means of local resources, founding of food funds for foodstuff exchange.
