Summary. Fabian is the herbicide, which nowadays is widely used to protect soybean crops in the Far East and in other regions of Russian Federation. In 2002-2013 in the experimental base of Far Eastern Scientific Research Institute of Plant Protection in plot and vegetation experiments biological and economic efficiency of Fabian was estimated; species of weeds differing in the sensitivity to this preparation were revealed; the main aspects of ecological security – dynamics of the herbicide remains in soil and its action upon a number of crops were studied. The average increase in soybean yield was 0.93 t/ha in the experimental variant during 2002-2005 with its productivity in the control 0.42 t/ha. The efficiency of the herbicide application before sowing or shooting largely depended on the level of soil moisture. Cirsium setosum, Galinsoga parviflora, Artemisia vulgaris, Echinochloa crus-galli, Sigesbeckia pubescens, Bidens tripartita, Elsholtzia cristata, Setaria viridis and Amaranthus retroflexus had the maximum sensitivity to Fabian among 22 studied weed varieties with the treatment of soil and vegetating plants; Acalypha australis, Rumex crispus, Polygonum maculate, Chenopodium album – with the soil application; Setaria viridis, Sonchus arvensis, Ambrosia artemisiifolia and Abutilon theophrasti – with treatment of vegetating plants. It is inappropriate to use Fabian on crops of soybean if dominating resistant weeds – Eriochloa villosa, Hibiscus trionum, Xanthium sibiricum, Commelina communis and Avena fatua. It was found that in 4…12 months after soil application of Fabian or treatment of the vegetating plants there 1…10 % of the initial rate of the herbicide (1…-10 g/ha) in meadow-brown soils. Under conditions of the Far Eastern South it is possible to grow oats, barley and wheat the next year after Fabian application without negative effect to the culture.

Keywords: soybean, herbicide, Fabian, weeds, efficiency, crops, sensitivity, soil residues.
