Summary. The article presents the technology of cultivation of vegetative seedlings of Siberian cedar for laying of forest-seed and nut-producing plantations in Zabaykalsky Krai. The task of the research was to improve the method of vegetative propagation – air layering, to determine the optimal period for propagation, agrotechnical treatment and cultivation of seedlings. Air layers placed on the plus trees of Siberian cedar selected on seed productivity. For packing of shoots on the tree peat plates of size 10 x 6 x 3 cm were used. In the upper part of the crown of the plus trees on a branch needles were removed and a naked shoot was obtained. At the end of the shoot banding and compression of bark was done. Peat plates soaked preliminary in earth mixtures were imposed on the bare part of the shoot and were tied in the middle and along the edges with string, on the distance of 2 cm from them. Plates were covered by food polyethylene film in three layers; its edges were tied with string. In 20…25 days packages were cut 2 cm below the string, were soaked in earth mixture and planted in the soil depth up to the first needles (11…12 cm). In the first year seedlings were grown in greenhouse. One-year air layers were grown during 2…3 years on the field up to the height of 25…30 cm. The best survival ability was observed with the carrying out of air layering in early spring before the start of sap ascent (end of April  middle of May) – 87…90 %. The optimum duration of rooting of air layers on the tree is 20…25 days. Long roots of air layers break off during planting, thereby reducing the survival rate. The three-year seedlings create a well developed fibrillose root system around the peat pack, so they should be planted with a clod of land of size 20 x 20 x 20 cm during establishing forest-seed and nut-producing plantations of cedar seedlings.
