DYNAMICS OF THE INCREASE IN MUSCULATURE GROWTH OF PURE BREED AND HYBRID CATTLE YOUNG ANIMALS

Summary. The aim of the investigation was to study the character of growth and development of muscular component, separate muscles and their functional groups in Simmental calves and its cross-breeds with Hereford and Charollais under intensive growth and fattening. The experiment was carried out in Tula Research Institute of Agriculture of RAAS. For the experiment 3 groups of bull-calves in 17 heads were formed by pair-analogues method, taking into account the origin, age and birth weight. The first (control) group included Simmental bull-calves (S), the second group included crosses with Hereford (S x H), and the third one included crosses with Charollais (S x C). The experiment was carried out since birth till 18 months age. During all experiment period Charollais crosses surpassed other crosses in absolute weight of musculature of half carcasses and by the end of the experiment surpassed them in this index by 21.5…28.8 %. Since the second half-year of their live bull-calves from the S x C group were characterized by higher growth rate. Muscular system growth coefficients of their half-carcasses were higher than in Simmental bull-calves and Hereford crosses 1.1…1.2 times. Charollais cross breeds were also characterized by higher average daily muscular gains: in the first two half-years of their life the difference was 1.1…1.2 times, in the third half-year – 1.3…1.7 times. Charollais and Hereford cross breeds exceeded bull-calves from the control group in absolute mass of muscular system in such anatomy parts as general ligamentous muscles (by 6.5 and 1.7 kg, correspondingly), spinal column muscles (by 4.7 and 0.8 kg) and leg zone (by 8.4 and 1.8 kg). Hereford cross-breeds during all experiment period took intermediate place in the intensity of growth of half-carcasses muscular component.
