Summary. Brucellosis has a particular importance in infectious pathology of productive animals. During the period of its study a lot of patterns of interaction processes between the pathogen and macroorganisms were identified. The discovery of the variability of bacteria enabled to develop new research directions and explain some features of infection process with the unusual pathology. Existing knowledge about L-forms of Brucella are based largely on results of experimental studies. There are extremely limited information on the practical importance and involvement of modified forms of Brucella in infectious and epizootic processes. Conventional laboratory methods can detect infected animals with persistence of typical (S) forms of Brucella. At the same time among animal population there are carriers of the microorganism in the L-shape, which are the source of infection and play a role in preserving the pestholes. Our purpose was to study the infectious process at brucellosis with typical (S) and modified (R, L) forms of the pathogen. The work was carried out in the nidus of brucellosis of cattle in 2013 on a farm in Omsk region. We used standard diagnostic tools (S) and developed by our own method ones (R, L) for serological diagnosis. There was established wide spread occurrence (over 10 %) of brucellosis in the herd. There were revealed the brucella-carriers with persistence of S-, R- and L-forms among infected animals. The typical (S) form of Brucella dominated during infective episode in the bodies of infected animals (up to 67 %). We noted the chronization of infection process with the prevalence of animals with L-brucella (up to 71 % of responders) in the long-term periods. In a new nidus of brucellosis among cattle population the virulent strains of the pathogen in the typical (S) and modified (R, L) forms circulates, which are involved in the infectious process and cause the active synthesis of specific immunoglobulins in the blood serum of infected animals.
