Summary. The history of the development of scientific researches in Tatar Research Institute of Agriculture is given in the article in retrospect for the 95-year period. The significant scientific achievements in agriculture, breeding and seed production, forage production, animal husbandry, mechanization are covered; leading scientists of the Institute are listed. During almost a century of its history, the Institute made a significant contribution to the development of agro-industrial complex of Tatarstan and Russia. The researches were always focused on solution of actual problems of agricultural production; they distinguished by its diversity and complexity. The scientists of the Institute developed hundreds of new technologies of agricultural crops cultivation, dozens of techniques, original systems of production of grain and forage crops, applicable models, tillage and sowing equipment, they bred more than 150 new varieties. Today Tatar Research Institute of Agriculture is one of the leading scientific centers of the Volga Federal Region. A unique research team, including 10 Doctors of Sciences and 33 PhDs, is working at the Institute. Two thirds of the team consists of young scientists under the age of 39. In the Institute there are carrying out basic researches on the genetics of plants, breeding new selected forms of cereals, developing and introducing the promising cropping systems. In their work, the researchers of the Institute apply the most modern achievements in biotechnology, molecular biology, and genetics. The varieties bred by the Institute are sown annually on the area of 1.5…2.0 million hectares of arable lands in Russia, and on 55 % of the acreage in Republic of Tatarstan. The varieties have proved their competitiveness and meet the best world analogues. For outstanding achievements in science and employment services 16 scientists of the Institute were awarded with high state awards - Order of Red Banner and Order of Lenin. Twelve large innovative projects with a broad introduction into production were awarded with State Prizes in the field of science and technology of Republic of Tatarstan and Russian Federation.
