ROLE OF HYDROGEL IN IMPROVING WATER SUPPLY OF WINTER WHEAT AFTER BASTARD FALLOW IN THE ZONE OF UNSTABLE MOISTENING OF STAVROPOL TERRITORY

Summary. The article presents three-year results of study of the effectiveness of hydrogel applied under winter wheat, sown on bastard fallow on ordinary black soil under conditions of unstable moisture conditions of Stavropol Territory. The three-factor experiment included two main methods of soil preparation: traditional plowing to the depth 20…22 cm and shallow tillage at 10…12 cm. Hydrogel in the doses of 100, 200, 300 and 400 kg and fertilizers (N60P60K60) were applied before the main treatment. The direct action of hydrogel increases the productive moisture reserves at all stages of organogenesis of the second after the fallow winter wheat by 5.5…95.5 %. The effect grows with an increase in the dose of the polymer. During three years the reduction in the rate of water consumption of winter wheat was registered, which reached 237…240 m3/t when using 400 kg/ha of hydrogel. The maximum increase in grain yield of winter wheat was obtained in the variants with the highest doses of hydrogel (300 and 400 kg/ha), in comparison with control it was 3.8…12.2 dt/ha (22.9…32.6 %) against the background without fertilizers, and 6.3…20.4 dt/ha (29.9…43.7 %) against the background with fertilizers (N60P60K60). The minimal dose of hydrogel (100 kg/ha) in the direct action under conditions of unstable moistening of Stavropol Territory was low effective.
