Summary. The article presents the results characterizing the content of trace elements in virgin and arable black soils. The patterns of the distribution of trace elements, depending on the depth of the soil profile were examined. The coefficients of biological uptake of trace elements for various crops were calculated. The national system of rationing of trace element content in soils was analyzed. In the article we used the results of the total agrochemical survey of arable soils of Belgorod region and the data of local agro-ecological monitoring carried out at the reference sites. The soil cover of these sites is represented by typical and leached black soils. All tests were carried out in the accredited laboratory in accordance with techniques, generally accepted in the agrochemical service. In the arable layer of black soils of Belgorod region the average content of manganese is 416 mg/kg, zinc – 44 mg/kg, copper – 13.1 mg/kg, lead – 13.1 mg/kg, cobalt – 7.8 mg/kg, molybdenum – 2.5 mg/kg, cadmium – 0.32 mg/kg, mercury – 0,023 mg/kg. The content of these elements reduces with the depth of the soil profile. The average total content of arsenium in the topsoil is 3.8 mg/kg and it increases with the depth of soil profile. Almost all surveyed arable black soils of Belgorod region are characterized by low provision with mobile forms of zinc, cobalt and copper, more than the half of the soils are poorly supplied with manganese and molybdenum. It was not found the exceeding of maximum allowable concentrations (MAC) and approximate permissible concentrations of the studied elements in arable black soils. It is appropriate to use the value 0.7 mg/kg as MAC for mobile forms of cadmium (AAB with pH 4.8), when carrying out the agro-ecological assessment of typical black soils contaminated by this element.
