Summary. The work presents results of field experiment on the effect of different ameliorants and fertilizers (phosphorite and lime powder, superphosphate, sodium sulfide, peat and zeolite), applied into contaminated by heavy metals (HM) sod-podzol light-loamy soil, on the yield vetch-oat mixture and barley, as well as on the content of cadmium and lead in crop production. The aim of the investigation was to develop the ecologically safe technological methods for recultivation of soils contaminated with HM. Used means of intensification of production significantly reduce the content of heavy metals in crop production. The greatest positive effect on reduction of cadmium content in the hay from vetch-oat mixture was obtained with the application of zeolite (the reduction by 66 %), in barley grain – the introduction of lime powder (the decrease by 69 %). The greatest effect on reduction of lead content in the hay from vetch-oat mixture was due to the entering into the soil of lime powder (by 41 %), in grain barley – the application of sodium sulfide (by 48 %). Thanks to this agronomic practice we were able to harvest grain with the permissible content of cadmium and lead on the area polluted by these heavy metals. On the basis of investigation results it is possible to enlarge the list of methods of reclamation of soil, contaminated with heavy metals, and to adapt them to the specific soil and climatic conditions of contaminated areas.

Keywords: heavy metals, chemical amelioration, agricultural crops, reclamation, ameliorants, fertilizers.
