Summary. The purpose of the research was to improve the reliability of the pneumatic seed distributor of row-crop drills. The formation of high-quality one-seeded supply by dosing elements of the pneumatic seed distributor during sowing of row crops is influenced by many factors. The wear of sowing set, consisting from dosing disk and seal pad, is one of the most important factors. To detect the wear of sowing set, as the seeder is working, the experiment was carried out under condition of educational-experimental farm of Stavropol State Agrarian University. Sowing seeds of sunflower Mercury was performed in dotted manner with prescribed seed rate 7 pcs/m at a depth of 6-7 cm by pneumatic row-crop drill «Kunh» Planter II, aggregated with tractor MTZ-1221, at a speed of 9 km/h. During the pilot study the wear of the dosing disk and seal pad was monitored every 5 hectares. The maximal wear of sowing set is 2.5 mm, which under the operating conditions of the experiment corresponds to processing of 56 ha. In this case the index of actual effectiveness reduced 9 times in comparison with 90% of the reliability of sowing process. After the processing of 52.3 ha, the reliability level of the technological process corresponds to 50%, i.e., every second hectare is sown with the disturbance of agrotechnical standards. Recommended usage limit of sowing sets, corresponding to guaranteed 90% reliability of seeding process in compliance with agro-technical requirements, corresponds to rejection wear equal to 2.1 mm.
