Summary. In the period of new technologies development environmental issues are very important in agriculture. In the view of some scientists, the most available, the cheapest, and, most importantly, the most efficient and environmentally safe method to accelerate the germination of seeds is electromagnetic stimulation. With the aid of this method you can achieve positive result in a relatively short period of time and with large quantities of seeds; although facts are rather contradictory. Seed pre-treatment by impulse electric field (IEF), along with stimulating effect, has pronounced bactericidal action, which is confirmed by the results of scientists of Stavropol State Agrarian University. There is a need for further development of methods and technologies of pre-sowing treatment of seeds by IEF, in particular, study of the effects of impulse electric field on sowing quality, depending on the seed layer. An urgent task also remains the amplitude contraction of voltages of IEF that will enable to create activators for seed treatment with less power consumption, safer in operation, smaller and more mobile for use in the field.
