Summary. The research is aimed to study the effects of humic substances on the content of mineral nutritional elements in the ordinary carbonate chernozem and on productivity of winter wheat. BIO-Don humic preparation is a product of alkaline extraction of vermicompost. Its main active ingredients are humic acids. The total content of humic substances is 2-4 g/l. In the experiments the different methods of application of humic substances were studied. The field experiment included four options: the background (application of diammophoska at sowing + spring fertilizing with ammonium nitrate); the background + preplant treatment of soil with humic substances; the background + double foliar treatment of crops; the background + preplant soil treatment + double foliar treatment of crops. It was shown that all modes of application of the humic substances contribute to a significant increase of available phosphorus in the soil compared to the background in the tillering stage. Against the background its average content over two years was 30.1 mg/kg, while in the variants with the preparation it was from 36.8 to 38.4 mg/kg. The tendency to the preservation of the increased availability of soil phosphorus is also evident in other phases of plants development. As a result, higher yields of winter wheat were obtained: the gain compared to the background ranged from 0.44 to 1.28 t/ha over the years, depending on the method of use of the preparation. The most effective method was the combination of preplant soil treatment by humic substances and double foliar treatment of crops. This is due to the active control of phosphorus mobilization processes by plants through the mechanism of root exudation and subsequent increase in the number of microorganisms, especially ammonifiers, cellulose-decomposing microscopic fungi and actinomycetes, for which more than 150% increase in number was showed comparing to the background.
