Summary. The investigation was carried out to assess the effectiveness of different preserving agents for forage from perennial legumes and to study their productive effect in the diets for dairy cows. The initial green mass of alfalfa and clover, harvested in the stages of stooling, budding, the beginning and the end of flowering, was analyzed. The greatest amount of metabolizable energy was registered in clover in the stooling stage (9.32 MJ), and in alfalfa in the budding stage (9.42 MJ). The preserving of dried alfalfa, cut in the budding stage, was carried out with the use of biological preparations Sil-All (Alltech, UK), Ferbach-Sil B-1 (developed in collaboration with scientists from Volga Federal University, patent application No 2014142843 dated 23.10.2014). Ferbach-Sil B-1 included lactobacillus (Lactobacillus plantarum 52, Lactobacillus lactis, Lactobacillus buchneri) and propionic bacteria (Propioni-bacterium frendeureichii 11), as well as enzyme preparation Bioxil. The control variant was without preserving agents. The content of metabolizable energy in 1 kg of dry matter in dry green mass was 8.50 MJ, crude protein – 23.12%, crude cellulose – 21.87, NDF – 28.43%, and sugar – 6.81%. The content of metabolizable energy and crude protein in the forage, prepared with Sil-All, was higher, than in the control, by 0.17 MJ/kg and 0.28%. The content of crude cellulose and NDF in the variant with Ferbach-Sil B-1 was less by 0.54%. The use of forage, prepared with Ferbach-Sil B-1, contributed to the increase in milk yield with basic fat content by 0.8% in comparison with the control. At the same time the value of this index was lower by 2.4% compared to the animals, fed by the silage, preserved with Sil-All. Due to the low cost of the preparation Ferbach-Sil B-1 (8.5 times lower than that of Sil-All), the economic effect per 1 ruble of additional costs was 12.5 rubles when feeding animals by the forage, made with this preparation, and 6.6 rubles – for Sil-All.
