Summary. The investigations were carried out at the experimental field of Ulyanovsk Agricultural Research Institute in 2011-2015 in order to determine the recoupment of mineral fertilizers by the yield of grain and an extra income in the technology of oat cultivation under conditions of the forest-steppe of Volga region. Oat cv. Konkur, which is recommended for cultivation in seven regions of the Russian Federation, was the object of the study. The design of the experiment included the variants with oat cultivation after pea and spring wheat, as well as moldboard and shallow soil tillage. In every variant oat was seeded at four seeding rates against unfertilized and fertilized backgrounds. Vegetation periods in 2012-2015 were characterized by increased temperature background and the lack of precipitation. At the beginning of the growing season moisture reserves in a meter layer were very good (173.3-176.8 mm), and in the second half of the growing season they were poor (81.8-82.8 mm). The highest content of nitrate nitrogen in the beginning of the growing season was noted in the fertilized variants. The productivity was influenced mainly (40.7 %) by mineral fertilizers. The recoupment of mineral fertilizers by oat yield with spring wheat as the forecrop was 2-3 times higher than with pea. In the variant with shallow soil cultivation and seeding rate 3.5m seeds/ha it was 12.5 kg/kg a.s. with the extra income of 2.21 rubles/rubles; with the seeding rate of 3.5-4.0m seeds/ha after plowing it was 11.9-12.1 kg/kg a.s. with the extra income 2.10-2.15 rubles/rubles.
