Summary. The aim of the present study was the development and approbation of the procedure for an increase in the accuracy of estimation of breeding qualities of cows for milk production on the basis of the BLUP method. For the Moscow population of Black-and-White dairy cattle, it was determined the evaluations of producing ability and genetic value based on the solution of equations of mixed models (BLUP-procedure) for single milk production traits. The interrelations between different estimations and absolute phenotypic indices of the characteristics studied for the separate lactations, as well as the levels of stability of these estimations, were studied. Phenotypic manifestations of milk productivity signs for the separate lactations are characterized by the low level of repeatability (r is from -0.13 to +0.49 for milk yield; r is from -0.07 to +0.41 for milk fat and protein content; r is from -0.13 to +0.44 for milk fat and protein output; P is less than 0.95 or more than 0.999). So they cannot be considered as the sufficiently objective index of pedigree and productive value of animals. The results of evaluating the productive ability of animals are more stable (r is from +0.45 to +0.95 for milk yield; r is from +0.71 to +0.97 for milk fat and protein content; r is from +0.43 to +0.96 for output of fat and protein; P is more than 0.999) and they can serve as the reliable index of productive value of cows according to the results of two lactations. The estimation of genetic characteristics of a breeding stock is the most precise and stable of the compared ones (r is from +0.70 to +0.95 for milk yield; r is from +0.80 to +0.98 for milk fat and protein content; r is from +0.67 to +0.97 for output of fat and protein; P is more than 0.999). It can be used as the basis of the complex assessment of animals on the main characteristics of milk productivity according to the results of one lactation already. Authenticity level of the coefficients of repetition of the analyzed characteristics was considered significant (with P more than 0.999) for the modulus of the values of the coefficients: according to the results of two lactations – more than 0.04; three lactations – more than 0.07; four lactations – more than 0.11; five lactations – more than 0.26.
