Summary. Turning of the modern horticulture into high-tech industrial sector is the main trend of its development and provision of food security of any developed country. An effective solution to these problems is possible on the basis of the so-called convergent technologies, which provide for a synergistic use of the knowledge and tools of high-technology and knowledge-intensive industrial sectors. The article reveals the main problems of industrial gardening and proposes their solutions based on information and technology modeling. Currently, domestic science suggests introducing items only of “breakthrough”, information and business technologies in industrial gardening. However, as international experience shows, partial, fragmentary technification and computerization of certain types of industrial activity, as well as the implementation of advanced information technologies in the traditional organizational and technological environment, at best does not meet expectations in full measure, and more often it yields a loss and disappointment. The authors for the first time in the world developed the principles and approaches to the construction of a multi-dimensional information and technological design (the analog of the digital 3D model in the CALS-systems), uniting in its format production processes, technologies, operations, and engineering support of industrial horticulture. The developed design enables to adapt the well-functioning and proven software and information systems of high-tech engineering industries to the problems of the commercial horticulture industry (to ensure the diffusion of technology). This, in the view of the authors, will enable to create a scientific and technological foundation for the management and implementation of the world and domestic commercial horticulture as an effectively functioning high-tech industry.

Keywords: horticulture, fruit and berries, intensive technologies, system of machines and technologies, information and technology modeling.
