Abstract. TThe efficiency of feed additives based on microalgae is contradictory and depends on the technology of their production. We investigated the feed additive “AlgaVet” on the basis of a highly productive strain of microalgae Chlorella vulgaris with an increased concentration of microalgae up to 2 g of dry biomass in 1 liter. The experiment was performed in 2015 under conditions of a vivarium of the All-Russian Research Institute of Physiology, Biochemistry and Nutrition of Animals on crossbred pigs (Danish Yorkshire x Danish Landrace). Two groups of pigs in 9 head in each one were formed taking into account the body weight and related keeping conditions. During the research we studied the chemical composition, feed consumption, their consumption per unit of gain, as well as corrected the rate of feed additive once in a decade. The use of the feed additive “AlgaVet” helped to reduce costs of feed by 9.1 %, of crude protein – by 9.6% and of the exchange energy – by 8.9 % per unit of gain. It also contributed to the significant (p is less than 0.05) increase in body weight of crossbred pigs by 6.9 %, average daily gain – by 9.9 %, compared with the control group counterparts. “AlgaVet” increased the number of bifidus bacteria, lactic bacteria and significantly (p is less than 0.05) reduced the amount of Salmonella and Escherichia in the large intestine. In piglets from the experimental group, bactericidal activity and the content of lysozyme in blood serum was significantly (p is less than 0.01 and p is less than 0.05 respectively) higher as compared with the control animals. The results are confirmed in 2016 under production conditions of the pig farm OOO “SKhP “Zhivaya Priroda”, Klin, Moscow region. “AlgaVet” in a dose of 1 ml/kg of live weight in the diet of crossbred pigs increases the average daily gain by 7.8 % as compared to the control groups, received the main diet with the feed additive “Aktivat” at the dose of 1 l/1000 l through the system of watering (I group) or the main diet only (II group).
