Summary. Despite the high level of potential productivity of modern Russian varieties of winter triticale, the utilization of new genetic resources can significantly improve it. Under the conditions of the Predkamskaya zone of the Republic of Tatarstan in 2012–2015 fifty Russian varieties and breeding lines of winter triticale from the world collection of the All-Russian Research Institute of Crop production were studied on valuable traits. Selected winter-hardy varieties are of great interest for breeding (Bard, Tarasovsky Yubilejny, Vodolej, 21406/96, Akkord, Snegirevskaya Zernokormovaya, SNT 13/94, Legion, Kentavr, Soyuz, Tsekad 90, Kaskad, Tribun, Bashkirskaya Korotkostebelnaya, Kornet, Agraf and Allegro varieties). Varieties Student, Konvejer, Mir, Altajskaya 4 and Altajskaya 3 had the highest protein content in grain (it was from 16.0 % to 17.5 %). We recommended to use them as a source of high-protein trait in further breeding work. Varieties and breeding lines Ustiniya, Sargau, Akkord, AD 412/2, Altajskaya 5, Avangard, Student, Mir, Altajskaya 3 had high grain quality combined with high productivity. A new domestic gene pool of triticale was divided by the methods of multivariate statistics into seven clusters, combined samples, similar by selectable traits of triticale, and five separate genotypes. Groups of high-yield samples (clusters 2, 3, 6, genotypes Allegro, Agraf) and the samples with individual improved properties for breeding were selected. With high probability, crossing of high yield samples from different clusters provides an increase in the transgressive variation or obtaining heterosis effect in hybrid progeny.
