Abstract. The purpose of this work was to study the influence of cutting type on the output of grafts and seedlings. The test design included five variants of their storage: 1 – annual lignified cuttings (LC) in November; 2 – green cuttings (GC) in June; 3 – GCs in June and July; 4 – GCs in June, and LCs in November; 5 – GCs in June, July, and LCs in November. During t first four years of the exploitation of mother plants (2008–2011), it was observed an increase in the yield of cuttings in all variants of the experiment. It was from 7,300 cuttings in 2008 to 63,600 cuttings in 2011. The greatest number of cuttings under unfavorable conditions was obtained in the variants with single storage of GCs and LCs (40,000 and 53,000 cuttings, respectively, in 2012 and 2013). Depending on the age of mother plants, the largest amount of cuttings was got on the 4th (63,600) and the 7th (64,400) growing season. In the first 4 years of plants exploitation, the rooting ability was the highest (70–80 %). Under dry summer conditions in 2012 and 2013, the rooting capacity of cuttings in autumn (variant 1) was significantly higher (85 and 63 %), compared with other variants of the experiment. The trends in the indicator “yield of seedlings” from a unit area throughout the years of the study were similar to the yield of cuttings. The yield of seedling depended on the load on the mother plant; the maximum amount of them was in variants 3, 4 and 5. It managed to obtain 28,200-28,800 rooted cuttings by such methods.
