Abstract. A huge amount of manure and litter generated during the production of marketable products of meat, milk, and eggs leads to deterioration of the ecological situation near the livestock enterprises. Development of new processing methods of these wastes for their further safe use is an important problem for the agricultural sector in all countries. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to establish the suitability of the microwave-treated wastes of pigs and poultry for their use as organic fertilizers in crop production. The proposed waste processing method is the impact on the pig and chicken manure by means of an electromagnetic field of ultrahigh frequency (magnetron power of 60 and 75 kW, magnetron frequency of 915 MHz, the exposure of 90 sec.). The use of this method of waste processing and further investigation of microbiological, toxicological and agrochemical properties of the samples showed that the proposed mode of the electromagnetic field impact allowed achieving complete decontamination of materials with no adverse effect on the component composition of the obtained organic fertilizers. The proposed mode did not result in the increase in the content of hazardous substances (the content was below maximum allowable concentrations or below the detection limit). Safety and relatively high level of the content of major elements of plant nutrition (nitrogen – up to 8.5 %, potassium – up to 1.8 %, phosphorus – up to 8.0 %), organic matter – up to 81.5 %, alkaline reaction of the medium (from 7.4 to 8.5 units of pH), manufacturable texture of microwave-treated swine and chicken manure leads to the conclusion that their use as organic fertilizers will help to improve the agro-physical properties of the soil and soil fertility as a whole.
Keywords: animal waste, pig manure, liquid fraction, chicken manure, ultrahigh frequency, electromagnetic processing, agrochemical characteristics, organic fertilizers.
