Abstract. To date, domestic industrial horticulture faces a number of challenges, including a low level of mechanization, because the production of agricultural machinery has almost ceased, and the available equipment has developed its resource. Domestic horticulture is in the transition from extensive to intensive technologies. The solution of problems of engineering support of industrial gardening in Russia is possible through the use of advanced production technologies (APT) and integration of scientific and technical potential of the leading organizations in the field of high technologies. APTs are high technology and science-intensive technologies, focused on the production of high-quality products for a particular consumer. APT includes the engineering aspect (high-tech, intellectual (smart), low-cost, customized, adapted equipment), technological aspect (informational methods for technology formation, CAD systems, computer technologies, databases and knowledge bases), digital and intellectual transformation (local monitoring and continuous diagnostics of plant conditions, an intellectual control system of production, technology and manufacturing processes). The production of the low-cost and customized equipment for industrial horticulture is one of the key stages of import substitution at the present stage. The development of the APT will lead to the following results: the creation of a new direction “Smart horticulture” and of its controller “Manufacturing intelligence”. For modern industrial gardening manufacturing intelligence is a set of all possible control automation means in combination with robotics, elements of precision agriculture, additive and other modern technologies; creation of a system of “Smart machines” that differ from the existing by multifunctionality, small size, ability to adapt to different conditions and plants, by the formation of the desired functionality in one machine; creation and distribution of “Smart plants” – fruit plants implanted with sensors and chips that continuously monitor bio-state of plants and convey the information to the control and decision-making centers on technology regulation and management of growth and production processes.

Keywords: advanced production technologies, low-cost customized technology, intelligent technology, “smart gardening”, “smart garden”.
