Abstract. Alekseevskaya experimental station was founded in 1932. Over the years of its existence, Alekseevskaya experimental station accumulated a unique scientific material on breeding, seed production, development of technical operations of cultivation of coriander and anise. The main direction of investigations of the station staff is the development of varieties of coriander and anise with high productivity and adaptability to peculiarities of the environment, resistant to diseases, shedding and cleavability of fruits. In addition, the station evaluates domestic varieties and hybrids of sunflower. Based on the results of agro-ecological variety testing, the most promising hybrids are recommended for transfer to the State Variety Test. Over the last ten years, three varieties of coriander and two varieties of anise were developed in the institution. Coriander varieties ‘Alekseevsky 1820’, ‘Alekseevsky 190’, ‘Alekseevsky 1366’ are characterized by high yields (1.6–1.8 t/ha), high content of essential oil (2.5–3.0 % of dry weight), better resistance to shattering of fruits (by 15–20%) and injury by ramularia than old varieties.
