Abstract. The use of vibration is one of the ways to reduce the soil resistance of work tools of tillers. We offer an original method for creating vibration of a work tool of a cultivator by applying pulsating pressure in the cavity of its tine. By changing the parameters of pressure, different modes of vibration can be set that will reduce soil resistance. For the analytical determination of the draft value of the proposed work tool under the action of vibration a mechanical and mathematical model of the cultivator KPE-3.8 was developed using RecurDyn application software package. The draft was defined as the sum of kinematic and dynamic, caused by the vibration, components. On the basis of analysis of experimental data, in describing the frictional force between the soil and the work tool the reduction of the friction coefficient was set with an increase in vibration frequency. The movement of the cultivator was simulated at speeds of 5-15 km/h, and the depth of processing of 5-15 cm. The amplitude of the pulsating pressure in the tine was 2.45 MPa, 5 MPa, 7.35 MPa. With the change of vibration frequency up to 30 Hz the reduction of draft by 20-25 % occurred. The increase of pressure in the tine cavity caused the slight increase in the resistance. Vibrations with the resonance frequency contributed to the increase in vibration amplitude and rate. Longitudinal and transverse vibrations of the resonant frequency caused an unstable movement of the work tool in the depth and horizontal direction. This led to the draft increase and deterioration in the quality of soil crumbling.
