Abstract. An important stage in the seed production of potato is the production of minitubers from mericlones, which are improved in vitro. The main problem in growing potato planting material in the Lower Volga region, including Saratov region, is a hot arid climate. It was carried out an analysis of five potato varieties (Nevsky, Kondor, Rosara, Avrora, Red Scarlett) and the L2 (Karabulak) selection line on the efficiency of plant growth and the yield of seed minitubers in the cultivation of mericlones in a cold frame greenhouse. It is possible to produce minitubers, meeting the requirements of GOST 33996-2016, from microplants through the use of a cold frame greenhouse in the Lower Volga region. The efficiency of growth of shoot biomass and the productivity of minitubers depend on temperature conditions and potato variety. The maximum yield under optimal conditions of 2013 was formed by Kondor, Red Scarlett and Rosara varieties (253.1, 292.9 and 226.3 g/plant, or 3796.2, 4393.0 and 3393.6 g/m2, respectively). The greatest propagation coefficient was noted for Nevsky variety (9.7 minitubers per plant) with less productivity (216.7 g/plant, or 3250.3 g/m2). The best yield on average over 3 years was characteristic for Red Scarlett variety (234.6 g/plant, 3557.5 g/m2). The maximum propagation was noted for the line L2 (10.5 minitubers per plant in 2015 and 9.7 minitubers per plant on average over 3 years). The average weight of tubers was higher in Rosara variety (28.2 g). A significantly lower weight of tubers was formed by the plants of the line L2 (11.4 g).
