Abstract. The studies were carried out in the forest-steppe zone of the Krasnoyarsk territory of Eastern Siberia in 2015–2017. The soil of the test plot was weakly leached medium humic chernozem. The test was carried out according to the State methodology for competitive variety testing. The aim of the investigation was to determine ecological plasticity of high-technology breeding short-stem samples. A comparative analysis of the standard pea varieties (the average length of a stem for the study years was 73–96 cm) and short-stem breeding lines (the average length of a stem for the study years was 44–56 cm) was carried out. As a result of the studies the influence of moisture availability and duration of the growing period, as well as its components on the yield of varieties and lines was determined and the indicators of ecological stability of samples were analyzed. Differences in the time of shoots emergence of varieties and samples were not revealed, the period of shoots-flowering in short-stem samples did not differ from the corresponding period of standards, however, maturation occurred 3 to 6 days earlier than in medium-stem varieties. The yield in the two groups of studied samples depended on the moisture availability during the seed germination period; for the standards r = 0.99 ± 0.14, for short-stem specimens r = 0.93 ± 0.36, and for the flowering period r = 0.92 ± 0.39 and r = 0.99 ± 0.15, respectively. The indicator of stability level in short-stemmed selection lines (25–61) was, on average, lower than that of standards (38–64), with the exception of the D-94 line (61). Yakhont variety is characterized by the smallest variation in yields (V = 9.9%), greater homeostability (Hom = 18), and a greater stability index (64) among the standard varieties. D-94 sample had the highest breeding value and stability among the short-stem lines studied (Sc = 246; stability index was 61).
