Abstract. Studies were conducted under the conditions of the northern forest-steppe of the Tyumen region in 2012–2015. The purpose of the experiment was to highlight a valuable initial material for creating new highly productive and high-quality varieties of naked oat cultivatable in Trans-Urals and Siberia region. 213 collection samples of oats from different eco-geographical zones were studied based on the main biochemical indices of grain quality – protein, fat, starch content. Soil – gray forest heavy loam. The studies were carried out in accordance with the methodological guidelines for studying and preserving the world collection of barley and oats. Growing conditions were essential (69.4 %) for the protein formation in the grain of naked oat varieties. The share of the genotype effect was 12.0 %, the share of the "genotype × environment" interaction was 18.4 %. The fat content (35.7%) and starch content (32.4 %) were less dependent on growing conditions. The share of genotype influence on the fat content was 37.1 %, starch – 28.1%. The share of the "genotype × environment" interaction in the fat content was 27.2%, starch – 39.5 %. The ambiguous role of meteorological factors in the formation of biochemical indices of the grain of naked oat varieties in the different periods of plant growth and development was noted. The protein content was positively related (correlation from medium to strong, r=0.52...0.93) with the amount of precipitation, the sum of the effective temperatures during shoots – paniculation and the average daily air temperature during the period paniculation – middle dough stage. On accumulation of fat, the precipitation and hydrothermal index of the first and second half of vegetation were significantly affected (correlation from weak to strong, r=0.24...0.99). The starch content was positively affected (correlation from medium to strong, r=0.39...0.89) by the sum of the effective temperatures in the period of shoots – paniculation and by the hydrothermal index in the period of paniculation – middle dough stage. Samples k-15132 (France); k-14944 (Netherlands); k-2353 (USA), etc. are perspective sources for improvement of grain quality indices for breeding of naked and chaffy oat varieties.

Keywords: initial material, biochemical indices, protein, fat, starch, correlation, perspective sources.
