Abstract. The study was carried out in 2005–2007 under conditions of long field stationary experiment, founded in 1972–1973. The study determined the effect of liming in the doses of a half and full hydrolytic acidity, of microfertilizer Mo + Cu in a liquid form (ZhUSS-2 preparation), and of mineral fertilizers (P50K80 – a background, the background + N30, the background + N60, the background + N90) on forage productivity of alfalfa and brome. On average over three years of the research, the legume culture surpassed the cereal one by 48% in the yield of feed units and exchange energy, by 71% in the harvest of digestible protein, by 17% in the content of energy in 1 kg of dry matter and of digestible protein in 1 feed unit. Soil liming was the most effective for alfalfa: the increases were 0.34 t of feed units per hectare, 3.2 GJ/ha of exchange energy and 0.035 t/ha of digestible protein versus 0.15 t of feed units per hectare, 1.5 GJ/ha and 0.02 t/ha, respectively, for brome. The use of ZhUSS-2 in alfalfa crops caused the gain of 0.13 t of feed units per hectare, 1.4 GJ/ha of exchange energy and 0.06 t/ha of digestible protein in comparison with brome. In variants with full mineral fertilizer the amount of digestible protein increased only in the cereal crop by 18 g in 1 feed unit, compared with the phosphorus-potassium variant (187 g). In alfalfa crops, the application of Р50К80 and N15Р50К80 against the background of liming (full hydrolytic acidity) and processing of crops with trace elements the highest output per 1 ha was obtained: 4.34 t of feed units, 45.6 GJ of exchange energy and 1.02 t of digestible protein. For brome the best values were obtained in the variants of N60Р50К80 and N90Р50К80 (the output per 1 ha was, respectively, 3.38 t of feed units, 35.5 GJ and 0.70 t). According to the amount of exchange energy in 1 kg of dry matter and digestible protein in 1 feed unit alfalfa (6.61 GJ/kg, 232 g/feed unit) surpassed brome by 0.95 GJ/kg and 34 g/feed unit, respectively.
