DETERMINATION OF STRESSES IN A SMALL PARTICLE MOVING IN A FLUID IN INTERPLATE SPACE OF A SEPARATOR

Abstract. The problem of determining the stresses inside a particle of biological origin, suspended in a fluid flow, moving in interplate separator gaps, was considered. This is an important practical task for food, medical and chemical industries, since fat and protein particles, bacteria, blood cells can collapse under the influence of an intense field of pressure in the separator. Destruction occurs when the threshold of stresses in these particles is exceeded. In this case, since the final separation process takes place in the interplate gap, the conditions for the survival of the particles should be referred to its peripheral zone, where the pressure is maximal. The solution is based on the analysis of the interaction of a small particle, conditionally divided into two segments, in a centrifugal field of liquid pressure. Based on the dynamic equation of motion of a small particle and taking into account the significance of the constituent components, intermediate general formulas for the projections of interaction forces between segments were obtained. After the disclosure of the functions of the constituent components included in the formulas, the stress function on the surface of the particle segments was obtained in an explicit form. To verify the result of the stated solution, it was chosen examples of calculating two liquid systems in industrial separators with an opposite ratio of dispersed phase densities to dispersion media. In one case it was carried out a numerical calculation of the conditions for the separation of erythrocytes in SK-1separator for the separation of blood, in another – for the separation of fat globules in A1-OKhO milk cleaner. The numerical value of the permissible rotational speed of a drum of SK-1 separator, calculated from the obtained formulas, confirmed its good agreement with the operating frequency, specified in the technical documentation of the separator.
