Abstract. The paper presents the results of agrochemical monitoring of arable soils in the central and north-west agroclimatic zones of Kurgan region from 1965 to 2017. The analysis of the dynamics of the main indicators of soil fertility testifies to their close connection with the volume of chemicalization means. The maximum amount of fertilizer was introduced in 1986–1990. During this period, up to 58 kg of mineral fertilizers and up to 2.6 t of organic fertilizers were applied annually on one hectare of arable land. In the same period liming of acidic soils was carried out actively. Reproduction of fertility of arable soils was provided due to intensive use of chemicalization means. Reduction in the volume of fertilization and liming of strongly acidic soils negatively affected such important indicators of soil fertility as humus content, acidity and mobile phosphorus content. The average weighted content of humus decreased from 5.35 to 4.90%; the share of acidic soils increased from 28 to 76%. To date, about 100,000 hectares of acid arable soils have a low content of mobile phosphorus and need phosphorus application. In general, the soils of the central and north-west agroclimatic zones of Kurgan region have a slightly acidic reaction (5.32 pH units); they are characterized by an average content of humus (4.9%) and mobile phosphorus (61.6 mg/kg), high availability of mobile potassium (133.8 mg/kg). Starting from the fourth round of the agrochemical survey, the negative balance of the elements of mineral nutrition is enhanced. More than 90% of the surveyed areas have a low content of copper, zinc, and cobalt, 24.8% of the areas have a low content of manganese.
