Abstract. The purpose of the work was the manufacture and use of reagents for determining the reliability of the origin of livestock and for improvement of the economically useful traits of breeding animals. Immunization of Holsteinized cattle of the Ural type was carried out in Sverdlovsk region in 2016–2017. The immunization was performed in a herd of 30 heads, certified for blood groups with high-quality reagents for testing antibodies produced. For this aim, donor-recipient pairs (10 pairs) were selected. The absorption method enabled to receive 35 types of reagents. A total of 1,200 head of cattle were certified for blood groups. Certification revealed 10 major alleles, including I2 and Y2G’G’’, which are markers of high yield. In breeding organizations, there are four categories of the antigenic similarity index of mating animals: up to 0.20, 0.21–0.40, 0.41–0.60 and more than 0.60. The index of antigenic similarity lower than 0.20 is rare: from 1 to 3% pairs. The average negative correlations (r was from -0.41 to -0.42) between the antigenic similarity of the mated animals and the service period were established, that is, the service period decreases with an increase in the index. The share of influence of antigenic similarity of pairs on the service period was 17%. It is possible to shorten the service period by selecting cattle pairs with a high similarity index (60% of antigens and above).
