Abstract. The aim of the research was to determine the influence of different sowing terms and seeding rates on the yield formation of mid-ripening huskless oat ‘Gavrosh’. The investigations were carried out in the northern forest-steppe of Kemerovo region in 2016–2017. The soil was leached chernozem, heavy loamy, medium thick. The meteorological conditions of the experiments were characterized by elevated air temperatures and insufficient moisture supply during the initial phases of growth (HTC was 0.4–1.4) and excessive moisture during the grain formation period (HTC was 1.1–1.4) and maturation (HTC was 1.4–1.8). The experimental design included three sowing dates (late – May 26-28, medium – May 16-21, early – May 6-14) and five variants of seeding rates (4.0, 4.5, 5.0, 5.5, 6.0 million germinating seeds/ha). On average over the years of the study, regardless of the seeding rate, the late sowing date had a significant yield advantage: 0.14t/ha in relation to the early date, and 0.07 t/ha in relation to the medium date. For all sowing terms the optimum conditions in agrocenosis formed at the seeding rate of 6.0 million seeds/ha. The excess of productivity over the variants of 4.0 to 5.5 million seeds/ha was 0.07–0.22 t/ha. The main element, determining the yield level of oat ‘Gavrosh’ at the early sowing date, was the weight of 1000 grains (r = 0.83 at R = 0.81). For the middle date, they were the fineness of grain and productivity of a panicle (r = 0.91 and r = 0.85, respectively, at R = 0.81). For the late sowing date, the yield was determined by the number of grains in a panicle (r = 0.94 at R = 0.81). A significant effect of the conditions of plant growth and development on the yield was revealed, it was 93.0%. The share of the influence of the seeding rate and the sowing date was insignificant; the interaction of the sowing date and the environment was 3.7%.
