Abstract. The purpose of this work was to identify factors affecting the change of separate elements of gooseberry productivity. Peculiarities of formation of average berry weight and seed number in a berry were studied in 19 varieties of gooseberry in 2012–2016. The studies were carried on an experimental plot located in the Iskitimsky district, Novosibirsk region on the right bank of the river of Ob; the soil was leached chernozem. The weather conditions during the periods from May to July were contrast: in 2012 it was moisture deficit against the background of high temperatures; in 2013 there was excess rainfall and heat deficit. The weather was cool and rainy in May 2014 and hot in July 2014. May 2015 was warm, rainy and over-wetted, July was cold; May and July 2016 were close to normal. All samples significantly differed on all signs. Factors “Genotype” and “Weather conditions” significantly influenced the formation of the average berry weight: 26.8% and 21.8%, respectively. The genotype and interaction between genotype and weather conditions affected the number of seeds in a berry: 31.2% and 12.7%, respectively. The phenotypic variability of the average berry weight varied from a medium to increased level (V = 15.9–29.9%), that of the seed number per berry varied from a very low to high level (V = 5.5–36.8%). Significant positive correlations were established between the berry weight and the seed number in all years of the research (r = 0.569–0.762), between the average berry weight and the amount of precipitations in July (r = 0.961), the hydrothermal coefficient in June (r = 0.911) and July (r = 0.970). The most stable indicators of productivity elements in all years were registered in the local variety Nadezhny and samples of Chelyabinsk selection: Cooperator, Shershnevsky, 34-70-35 (V = 11.6–20.0%).

Keywords: gooseberry; variety sample; average berry weight; seed number per berry; elements of productivity.
