Abstract. The aim of the research was to study variability and inheritance of 1000-kernel weight in a system of diallel crosses of common spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) depending on genotypes and environments. The experiments were carried out in 2015–2016 years. Seven varieties (Omskaya 36, Gerakl, Kuraginskaya 2, Maltsevskaya 110, Altaiskaya 75, Altaiskaya Zhnitsa, Tibalt) and three lines (Lutescens 1022, Lutescens 1041 and Lutescens 070326/1) of common spring wheat of different ecological and geographical origin were used in crosses in accordance with a half-diallel scheme. The material was sown after bare fallow in optimal terms for the Ob’ forest-steppe of the Altai territory with hand driller RS-2; the replication was three-fold. The weather during the years of the experiment was characterized by the deficit of rainfall in the first half of the growing period and overwetting in the second half. Genotypic differences of varieties and lines had the largest impact (60.2%) on the general phenotypic variation of the trait (1000-kernel weight), followed by weather conditions (30.4%) and their interaction (3.7%). Line Lutescens 1041 had the maximal grain weight (42.2 g in 2015; 33.8 g in 2016) and cultivar Maltsevskaya 110 had the minimal grain weight among parents (31.8 g in 2015; 26.4 g in 2016). The majority of F1 hybrids (77.8%) inherited the trait by the overdominance type, 12.2% of hybrids demonstrated partial, complete and incomplete dominance of the parent with the highest and the lowest value of the trait; in 1.1% it was the intermediate inheritance, and in 8.9% the depression was observed. Hybrid populations with Omskaya 36, Lutescens 1041, Tibalt and Lutescens 070326/1 were of the highest breeding value.
