Abstract. This work studies the hybrid of argali and Romanov sheep and Tajik aboriginal sheep of the second generation and the growth of hybrid young stock to find out how it can be used to create new breeding forms. The sperm from a hybrid of the second generation (1/4 argali x 3/4 Romanov breed) was introduced into an artificial vagina. Spermatozoa activity was assessed using CASA technology, acrosomes state – using the Diff-Quik kit, and chromatin – with the acridine orange test. According to the concentration (2.5 billion / mL), mobility (the share of spermatozoa of the PR class is 89.8%), acrosomes integrity (89.9%) and the chromatin fragmentation index (10.7%), the seed of the hybrid ram meets the requirements for sperm for artificial sheep insemination. The sheep of matokgissar (n = 40), Tajik meat-tallow-wool (n = 22) and Pamir fine-fleece breeds (n = 22) were inseminated by the obtained sperm. The yield of lambs at birth was 17 heads (42.5%), 16 (53.3%) and 10 heads (45.4%), respectively. The purebred and crossbred lambs showed significant differences in live weight and linear measurements, due to species and breed characteristics, as well as the effect of heterosis. The measurements were performed at birth, on 2nd and 12th months. The superiority of the hybrids over the purebred sheep was most pronounced at the age of one. Pamir fine-wool breed mongrels at this age significantly exceeded purebred peers in live weight by 2.44 kg (reaching 36.85 kg), height at the withers – by 4.42 cm (62.42 cm), chest girth – by 4, 80 cm (83.41 cm), depth and width of the chest – by 2.01 – 2.32 cm (22.95 – 15.55 cm). The hybrids of the Hissar breed exceeded their analogues only in live weight – by 2.13 kg (51.18 kg). The mongrels of the domestic sheep with the hybrid ram can be used to create new breeding forms.
