Abstract. The study was conducted with the aim of developing efficient methods for laying and exploitation of nursery plots, which make it possible to reduce the cost and speed up the production of planting material, for laying lavender plantations with new, highly productive varieties, to clarify the terms of productive exploitation of nursery plots. The experiments were carried out in a crop rotation of the Crimea Research Agricultural Institute in 2008–2015. This region belongs to the northern subdistrict with moderately warm winter. The climate is moderately continental. The soil is southern calcareous heavy loamy chernozem. Varieties Stepnaya, Sineva, and Vdala were used in the studies that enabled to take into account their varietal characteristics. The experimental work was done using two types of nursery plots: M-1 was laid with plants obtained by rooting green cuttings; M-2 was laid with plants obtained by rooting one-year lignified cuttings. The productive exploitation of M-1 nursery plot started since the second plant vegetation, and of M-2 nursery plot – since the first vegetation. We compared five variants of nursery plot exploitation: storage of one-year lignified cuttings; single storage of green cuttings; double storage of green cuttings; single storage of green cuttings combined with single storage of one-year lignified cuttings; double storage of green cuttings combined with single storage of one-year lignified cuttings. For Stepnaya and Sineva varieties 2–3-fold preparation of both types of cuttings per season was the most effective. For 8 years of exploitation of nursery plots, 249,100 and 282,600 seedlings were stored from an area of 0.01 hectares, respectively. For Vdala variety, double storage of green cuttings and single storage of lignified cuttings for the season was the most effective: for 8 years 192,400 seedlings were stored.

Keywords: true lavender (Lavandula angustifolia Mill.); variety; nursery plot; cutting; seedling.
