Abstract. The paper presents the results of a study on the effect of Mephosphon on the composting time and the effectiveness of the disinfection of liquid chicken manure with an assessment of the possibility of using the resulting product as a fertilizer for growing crops. Mephosphon is an aqueous solution of the bis(oxy)methyl phosphinic acid salt. Biological activity of the preparation is high since it is a regulator of the secondary metabolism of organic substrates in various biotechnological processes. The manure was treated with an aqueous solution of Mephosphon with simultaneous stirring for two months. In the untreated manure, the final medium reaction in compost amounted to 6.8 pH units; in the treated manure, it amounted to 7.5 pH units. The increased nitrogen content in the treated manure, which was 1.3 times higher, indicated deeper decomposition of organic compounds including acids than in the untreated manure. Microbiological indicators of the obtained product (UP-1 compost) met the requirements of GOST R 53117-2008. On the 65th day after the onset of composting, representatives of pathogenic microorganisms were absent. The indices of Escherichia coli and enterococcus groups made it possible to classify the studied samples as pure. Field experiments were conducted in 2018–2019 on sod-podzolic medium loamy soils of the Republic of Tatarstan on spring common wheat ‘Yoldyz’. The experimental design included such variants as without fertilizers – the control, composted manure (CM), UP-1 compost. The technology of manufacturing organic fertilizer from chicken manure affected the crop structure. The wheat grown using UP-1 compost had a higher tillering coefficient and more grains per ear, compared with the other variants. In 2018, the yield increased by 2.6 t/ha relative to the control; in 2019, it increased by 2.7 t/ha relative to the control. The grain produced in this variant was characterized by higher grain hardness. For control, it was 60%; for CM, it was 63%, for UP-1, it was 82%. Mass fraction of crude gluten was also higher. It amounted 15.7%, 16.4%, and 21.1%, respectively.

Keywords: Mephosphon; chicken manure; UP-1 compost; yield.
